Can the board QB gurus and experts tell me what's wrong with Trevor Lawrence?

There are no “sure thing” college QB’s. Some (most) just can’t make the transition…

The offensive line is stinking up the field

Trevor Lawrence isn't the problem. If anything, he's one of the reasons why they're able to make something out of nothing all too often.

The game against the Browns, where they had to drive the entire field, down by 3, starting at their own 2 yard line, was the ultimate display of the ineptitude of the line. The left side of the line got overrun, and the result was a safety.

The offensive line was terrible last year as well. They were arguably the worst at running the ball last year, and their pass protection wasn't much better.

It wouldn't matter if you had Joe Montana or Tom Brady at the QB position, or Emmitt Smith at RB. If the offensive line can't perform, then the most talented quarterbacks and running backs will look like journeymen out there.

The lone exception was probably Barry Sanders...

The NFL and college are two totally different games. I find it surprising that NFL teams don’t realize that letting a kid watch for 2 or 3 years matters. Darnold was not good until he sat and watched for a year or 2. Green Bay gets it - let Rogers sit for a few years, let Love sit for a few years. Yes - there are anomalies - Purdy, Allen, etc. But those are rare. I don’t think you can take a college kid, 24 years old, and throw him into the NFL and say figure it out. The NFL is a zone scheme game, college is a blitz, man game. It’s not even the same game. It doesn’t help, bad teams have a bad offense line and bad receivers and a QB is going to fix it all. Build an OL and a defense and then draft a QB to watch for 2 years. My 2 cents.

I still think it is the line on that team. He has to rush every play just a bit and as good as he

is escaping and getting the pass off, it is hard for any QB to do. Lawrence would be a superstar on the right team. Except on the play below I spoke of, it was a terrible throw.

Now, do you think maybe some of what you say about OL applies to Leonard?

That first half from Josh Allen was as good as I have ever seen from any QB. Overrated? A strong no!
