Will ND make the playoffs if they win the rest of their regular scheduled games.

Enormous IF, but yes if they win out they'll be in and likely host a 1st round game.

I don't see it happening though unless drastic change occurs with this team.

A big IF. There is a reason I predicted 8-4.

We are in to the Eye test period from now on. Barely win and trouble.

Almost certainly and likely hosting. They might even make it in with 2L, but harder with NIU loss

No 1-loss team playing a Power 5 schedule has ever finished outside of the Top-10 of the CFP rankings. ND has 8 P4 opponents.

They would have quality wins in current order of how impressive they were.
TAMU in College Station in opener
USC
Louisville
GT

There aren't many teams that would finish with a stronger SOR, and they will have byes.

Pretty sad when you’re highest ranked win is a team ranked #25

And likely will finish with multiple losses given their schedule.

Not going to win a playoff game with RL unless they start running the wishbone

IMHO it's too early to tell. Other factors beyond our control. Not going to happen w/ 2 losses.

This is exactly what happens when a team does not protect home field vs an average outmanned opponent. MF feels the pressure and he should. Lose tomorrow and playoff hopes are finished in September.

NIU was nigh unforgivable, but ND *could* still get in with 2 losses

You have to remember 12 teams get in, and most teams have at least 1 bad loss in a season. If you look back at final historical CFP rankings, 2-loss P5+ND teams generally finish top 12.

And lighting more candles at the grotto or a host of nuns doing novenas can't make that ugliness go away.

Sure, anything is possible but the only way for ND to get in is for ND to look impressive, VERY impressive with must win vs a 10-1 USC. Given what we have seen this fair, neither of those things are likely. The overall softness of the schedule took a major blow with Florida State playing like they want to get their coach fired.

Perhaps papal intervention.......................

Thread Level: 4

IMHO, 2 losses won't do it, especially since one of those losses was a home loss to NIU.

Who then lost to Buffalo. But, we'll see. Maybe you're right.
