can barely scratch the top 20.

We knew we needed a QB who could throw and run to compete with the big boys so he went and got an option QB. And he reverted to the single wing of the 1930's, either due to QB incompetence or idiotic conservatism.

Freeman is clearly in over his head, aside from recruiting. Which is the one positive thing he has proven. ND can recruit well enough to compete for championships.

Nobody, well it seems some, watches this team to be happy about wins over the Northwesterns of the world. It'd be awful to see them make the playoff and get smoked by Tennessee, or Miami on national tv.

This offense is an embarassment to ND fans. Watching that game I couldn't help but think... hmmm I wonder what Jeff Brohm could do with our offense?

We are not recruiting that well, and I would take Freeman over Brohm

After yesterday I'm not sure they can beat anyone. Definitely not a number 7 rank team.

Ryan listed six coaching errors made by Brohm. That's in one game.

Brohm most likely woke up this morning wondering how in the world did the Cardinals lose that game.

Even though they were gifted 14 points off two horrible turnovers that shortened the field to 10 yards, the Brohms called a pretty good game yesterday against a solid defense. They simply had a miserable time converting on 3rd down.

The biggest mistake was huddling up in the last 90 seconds, and then taking a delay of game penalty that turned an easy QB sneak (against a tired defense) on 4th and 1, into a 4th and 6.

How that could happen is a head scratcher, since that's the easiest play to run in the book, and works much more often than not.

We can't count on opposing coaches to make bone-headed errors, since Lady Luck is a very fickle woman, indeed.

to find a solution to what are obvious problems? ND seems resigned to the fate they brought upon themselves with Leoanrd.

My question is would that game have been close if Freeman were Louisville's coach and Brohm ND's.

I don't think so. I think Brohm would have decisively beaten Louisville. I don't think Brohm would play a QB who can't run a college level passing offense. Throw Louisville's QB on ND, with Brohm as coach, they blow out Louisville.

The plays where he suckered our blitzing D to chase the QB and would dump a short throw on crossing pattern to a WR or back for chunk plays showed he had some creative solutions to our rush. I saw no comparative creativity from our coaches.

All coaches do, but it's how many and are they repeated that's the issue.

And Im not necessarily wishing for Brohm. Just a coach that can adjust. Be creative, and has the balls to make tough decisions. I hoped that was Freeman. But he's proven inflexible and uninspired. A rote thinker.

But yeah, I agree, Brohm's time management and play choice was a little crazy and well as his 4th down decisions.

But I do think he'd do better with our offense than our coaches do.

Jeff Brohm wouldn’t do crap with our offense and neither would any other coach. How successful do you really think an offense can be playing the entire second string on OLine? Have you ever watched a college game and seen a coach do a whole sell change on OLine?

back to poor OL recruiting by Harry and horrible QB recruiting for about a decade.

RL would be 2nd string for most major D1 programs. His weaknesses are more glaring when put behind. a young OL.

There's plenty thry could do. One would be put in a QB who can complete a 10-20 yd pass.

That would change the complexion of the entire offense. Especially the run game.

They proved yesterday that a screen pass can work. Just a little less pigheaded play calling and a willingness to make necessary changes would do them wonders.

You ever watch a game where an over matched Oline has a coordinator who throws quick passes, draws slants, and screens to offset the rush?
