I really liked 1st qtr RL … 2-4 qtr not so much. Just more of the same.
Square peg. Round hole.
Run, run, run.
Coaches seem to have an agenda to make it all about RL no matter what.

The penalties and the fumble by Price really hurt what looked like was going to be his best game for
us. If the circumstances of the game didn't eliminate the freeness he had in the first quarter, he would have put up big numbers, I believe.

This was a weird game.
It was rainy and windy and ND had a ton of injuries. They got up by 2 TDs in the first quarter and shut down the offense for large chunks of the game. They were being deliberately conservative. I'm not sure why people are confused about this. There were tons of turnovers. Louisville had more yards and better ToP because ND was playing conservatively on both sides and protecting a lead.
It ALMOST backfired but it didn't and they got out with a needed win. No one should be complaining.

I agree, one we got the lead it was a game of just not giving them anything easy. It worked but almost back fired

Obviously different echelon of teams, but last night's Georgia-Alabama game followed a similar ...
pattern. The Alabama offense with Milroe running & passing looked unstoppable. And then it just stopped, Milroe's deep shots, his accuracy and success in running stopped until one final drive when the offense was forced to be aggressive and won the game. Defensive adjustments? Complacency? Coach think ("the only way they can get back in the game is with turnovers")? Very similar to what happened with ND and Leonard after taking the 21-7 lead.

As a fan I am ok with ugly wins against upper echelon teams but
Only the Purdue win hasn’t been an ugly win. You can’t struggle against opponents week in and week out in that manner when you clearly should be the better team.

Can’t figure that one out. Is it him, the play calling, blind faith, or a couple of easy adjustment
by our opponents?

It felt like playing calling changed after the first quarter…
What we as fans don’t know is why. One would think if the coaches believed RL could be more than a runner then they would call plays as evidence of that. I do believe early in the season that plays were being called but RL was not seeing them and taking off. Last week second half seemed like a possible light bulb moment for RL and first quarter this week looked really good. But then it all went away.
My uneducated opinion is that the coaches know exactly what they have but he’s been paid for and must be used. For better or for worse.

The big pass completions were mistakes in their coverage. They didn't make those mistakes that often
