Not only losing to NIU, but struggling with Miami of O, and Louisville @ home.
Unless RL picks up the pace and starts playing like a Million $ QB and the OL and defense improve, ND will lose 1 or 2 more games before playing USC. The patchwork OL was suspect and the defense should not have given up 24 against Louisville at home. SMU made Louisville look pedestrian on its home field.
The ceiling for this team is 9-3 and winning a minor bowl game like last year.
We should be starting another QB now to get ready for 2025, Carr, Minchey or Angelli.

And ND one. But you could even argue given ND's relative competence that day on offense it was about a three-score difference.
OL is key. New OL to begin with and lost a bunch of them. Playing true freshmen. Not a great situation to be in but there is experience and talent in the replacements. If they can get it together over these two weeks and start to function we can be a pretty good team. RL has improved and we'll see what his ceiling is as a thrower. We'd be able to sustain drives and take the pressure off our defense which is also now very thin and very young up front.

team (crappy Illinois). Hope U$C lays a severe beating on them this Saturday.

The eye test says
Alabama is not overrated
USC is just about right
Michigan was overrated. They are not a good team this year
Sadly, I think we are built like Michigan more than anyone else. If we were to play them, it would be an absolute toss up.
So yes we are overrated at 11, for now
We are not a very good team right now with Leonard at QB and it’s being masked by a crappy schedule.
It’s a joke that Freeman continues to play Leonard but I guess he is embarrassed that he spent $1.2M on him and feels obligated to play him.

By RL picking up the pace, does that mean being more successful throwing the ball downfield?
