CFB Got what it wanted: noise. Really all conferences need to be abolished.

But we're not there yet. They still need to deal with players getting paid, then they'll deal with the conferences.

I really have no idea how there are any remaining "student athletes".

One voter left ND out of the Top 25 altogether. Two others had the Irish at 20, one had A&M at12 and Bama at 16 while the other had the Aggies at 17 and Missouri at 19.

Iowa State and BYU squeaked by again. Neither team is particularly good.

They haven’t lost to anyone, let alone at home to a team like NIU that lost again yesterday.

We made our own bed. Need to win out and hope that is enough. A&M beating LSU would also help.

Poll voters aren’t impressed by our team. Loss to a team like NIU at home will do that.

"blowing out?"

ND won and that is all that matters but unless ND puts more than 40 points on the board, it doesn't move the playoff edge that ND is on.

21-7 beginning the 4th quarter -- at home -- with a team playing it's 2nd team qb -- isn't what I call a blow out.

31-7 before garbage points that may have sabotaged remainder of their season..

It was a blowout win.

I wouldn’t describe it as a blow out win. More like a comfortable win that was never in jeopardy

hardly a "neutral" field and this was a home game for GT. MB Stadium is about 2 miles from GT. They had the game moved there for $$ purposes.

You wrote it as if ND was at home, and who cares what score was at end of third?

It was 31-7 before we put in backups and they scored garbage points.

We won and that counts. While a solid win, it wasn't an impressive win.

It wasn't a blowout but almost any definition of the term with a 14-7 halftime lead AND only a 24-7 3rd quarter, especially when one considers that GT was playing with a backup qb.

Those points-in-time do matter because the committee members aren't going to look at every second of every game for those on the bubble. They will be dealing, partly, with perceptions. Nobody, and mean nobody is going to go "wow" over those scores. And way too many people here don't realize that ND is clearly on the bubble and needs to be impressive in all of their games. Perception will matter when ND won't have any friends in the room while the other 4 conferences will and there is a lot of "resentment" from many, including the ACC, that ND is not in a conference. Our selection has to be a no-brainer, especially with the anchor that is NIU.

Ok, it happens...I still don't agree that a 31-7 game prior to garbage points scored on backups

isn't a blowout.

I can't think of a single team we've ever played that if we beat 31-7, I (and most) wouldn't consider a blowout.

When you add in the GA Tech is a quality team, who we beat by largest margin of defeat for them this year, while nearly doubling the spread (was more than double before their garbage time score), and had their HC accusing us of 'running it up' at his post game presser...I just don't see the 'we didn't blow them out' angle as valid.
