......environment? NIL, transfer portal, pressure to win at least 10 games/year, etc......if OCs, DCs can make $2M+/year without all of the HC headaches and have a better quality of (family) life, maybe guys like Golden who has been through the HC grind, may think twice before leaving???

He was clear. "I didn't come back to coach in college football, I came back to coach at Notre Dame".

I think that the is quite happy without all of the other headaches, the good pay, and the Notre Dame kids he can mold.

otherwise, I think that he would go back to the NFL.

Agree. It would surprise me if he took a stepping stone HC job in college. If DC job offered in NFL,

Maybe Michigan State... He won't take HC job at some school with a long history of losing!
