For those who have extensively watched all or most games this season, what do you think we would do differently against NIU today?

That reminds me of a comment by Mike Tyson in his early days when a reporter ask him

what his fight plan was and he said “ knock him out” and walked off.

Play Angeli in the 2nd half as RL was hurt & not able to run the ball which is his strength

Oh & run on 2nd &1 instead of trying to play hero ball with an injured QB who is a mediocre passer with a weak arm to start with.

Thread Level: 3

Dead wrong on the weak arm, his accuracy has a right to be questioned but it is improving. Arm

strength is not his problem. The play calling when he was hurt was because in that case his arm was compromised.

Folks always forgetting or dismissing RL not getting reps in the spring.

That was huge in his development with his WR's and TE's. Playing D1 QB at a high level takes a lot of reps, a few weeks in the fall aren't going to make up for that lost time.

Playing Angeli wouldn't have made a damn bit of difference

unless he was able to block for himself, catch his own passes and play defense. It was a total failure of effort, focus and preparation, from top to bottom, including coaches.

MF would have just gotten SA killed because every one around him was getting beat play after play after play.

It's not like Angeli is a proven weakness. He seems a capable backup.

19 times out of 20, we win that game handily.

Unfortunately for us, they were there for the 20th time. We were flat and off-rhythm, while they were sharp and played about as great of game as they could played.

Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Played very poorly…and yet still had to take active steps to lose that game…

Are you asking about a rematch or what would be changed

It all started at the A&M post game presser.

MF couldn''t remember who the Irish played next. He was more like a giddy teenager than a seasoned HC. That projected on to the team. Then NIU practice week came. All involved could have done better. MF's statement. Not mine. The game was lost between the ears during that A&M presser. Lesson learned but it took three ridiculouss losses to learn that lesson.

that he wanted to think about Texas A&M 100% which was necessary to beat them at their place and that carried over for a bit which is understandable. I mean don't teams after a big win or just a win say they want to enjoy it for 24 hours before they get into the next game.
