ND will likely need portal help to fill out the QB room after some familiar faces transfer.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

With Hebert coming in 2025, and Grubbs coming in 2026, we don't need any portal QB's.

The 2025's QB roster looks to be as deep and talented as any we have ever had since the golden era of the Holtz days.

From 1989-1992, we had quite a talented room.

Rice, Mirer, Kelchner (dismissed), McDougal, Hawkins (transferred out), and yes, even Paul Faila, who was a very much underrated QB.

Before anyone scoffs at the mentioning of BJ Hawkins, keep in mind, that guy was very talented, and a great athlete who could actually throw a pretty good pass. He knew he wasn't going to unseat Mirer, and transferred to Virginia, where he foolishly violated team rules, and got himself suspended during the year he could have started.

There was a game that Faila started, since Mirer was still shaking off the effects of a minor concussion, and the linemen all swore that having him back there as the QB felt exactly the same as if Mirer were there. I think he could have done a fantastic job if he were the QB in 1993, since his passing capabilities were better than McDougal's.

Next year, short of someone leaving via portal, ND will have 4 scholarship QB's on the roster.

I would think someone is likely to leave once the dust settles after spring or even before

We seem to have 3 guys that could play. 1 is going to be odd man out. You can’t have a 3 way competition after spring

Isn’t Angeli getting his degree this year too? And if Carr is as good as advertised, he isn’t sitting next year behind someone with no real starting experience or he isn’t that good or is going to consider leaving too

Ewers would probably just declare for the draft. He put up solid numbers in 2022, and has put up very good numbers in the last two years.

While the tOSU destination looks somewhat plausible, would Day want him back?

Alabama has plenty of top notch quarterback talent in the wings.

The article is flat-out wrong, mentioning Ian Book, since he was never coached by Marcus Freeman. We have plenty of in-house talent as well.

Furthermore, USC isn't going to be miraculously resurrected in the off-season, unless they somehow manage to bring in several top notch, polished, developed linemen to protect the QB. That would be career suicide to a guy who could easily be drafted on the 2nd day as of this moment.
