Yet, sitting on my couch I was yelling at Denbrock, for not making USC stop the run before getting cute. The two turnovers happened on pass plays when we were running the ball at will, they kept USC in the game.
Also, why don't we utilize play action passes? Why don't we roll Leonard out giving him an option to pass or run?
The INT was on Leonard, who threw the ball badly that time.
The receiver was open.
Leonard threw confidently to a spot but the receiver kept going.
However, when you have the 3rd ranked YPC offense, with studs like Love and Price, and thee opponent can't stop the run... Run the goddamn ball!

So true. With a running game that needs to be respected, Instead of straight drop backs, Denbrock should install some roll out pass option and especially boot passes off of play action. Nothing major, just another wrinkle. It would help get Evans open and allow him to get more depth down the field catching passes at 10-12 yards, versus 5 to 7. And if you boot pass, run it to the right, so RL doesn't have to throw across his body.
Denbrock is a master at being unpredictable. He does his best to put Leonard in successful situations. The fumble by Thomas was a fluke, though.
I like offensive play calling.
