1st & goal from the one. I still can't believe Texas offensive coaches failed these players.

I see this all time at all levels where coaches outsmart themselves. I feel for the Longhorn players who deserved better in situations like this.We hear about staff incentives and bonuses all the time for winning playoff games. In this circumstance, there should be paycheck deductions for the Texas offensive staff making the calls.

Shouldn't have ended so stupidly, but it's all on the coaches

That east-west BS was going to cost them one way or the other.

We've witnessed all coaches with bonehead calls. Pete Carroll blew the Super Bowl and the Bills

losses that I don’t know how one ever gets over. You play to be in that game and win it. It’s right there for you to win and you do a dumb play call to cost you a SB win. Fuck, I lost my last wrestling match in a championship finals and not a day goes by where I don’t think about that and it’s been over 30 years. Lol. I couldn’t imagine losing a SB that way.

It looked like Tommy Rees were calling the plays

It's head-scratching to see why today's OC's refuse to follow common logic when it comes to plays that are much more likely to get the job done.

No QB sneaking under center allowed when you just need 1 yard with a decent sized QB. No hitting the line with a quick RB dive up the middle from under center.

Instead, call a slowly developing run play from the shotgun (and lose 7 yards), which was the real back-breaker.

There were any number of things they could have done, such as trying a couple of QB sneaks, or even a quick play action pass to the tight end, anything but a slowly developing running play against a strong, aggressive defense.

I agree and have been saying the same thing for years. The QB needs to be up under center when you

only need a half or one yard. They can sneak it, they can hand off to quick hitting dive or jump over the pile, play action, etc. I also like in short yardage having a fullback or even go with the T backfield power run. Being in shot gun with one yard to go is just stupid as it takes too long for the play to develop and depends on near perfect execution or your result is the QB or RB getting tackled in the backfield for a 4 yard loss.

I agree with the QB sneak logic big time. Get under center there is always an A gap on one side or
