Never heard Patricia's name mentioned by anyone anywhere for the ND DC position.

His only relevant coaching experience is in the pros, so it's difficult to project.

He's never been a coordinator or even a position coach at a major program, so there isn't much history to draw on there. It may say something that Belichick kept him as his D.C. for 5 seasons, but again, drawing conclusions about the D.C.'s performance on a Belichick-coached team is tough to do.

His other experiences in the N.F.L. appear to have had poor results by any objective measure: Statistics, player relationships, locker room culture.

Having said all of this, we do know that he'll be working with an exceptional talent base relative to nearly every other team they'll play.

I guess the money is such these days that going to college after the pros is no longer a step down.

Interesting choice for him.

Imposing corporate abuse, neglect and greed on deserving victims.

In fact no one in the NFL has been much interested in him since he left Detroit.

Perhaps he will be more successful in college.

Fail. Did you see what he did with a Super Bowl winning eagles defense 2 years ago…

Not saying he will fail, but it’s tough trying to run NFL defenses simply because with complex

schemes, you don’t have 11 NFL caliber kids at the college level. That was the biggest problem when ND had VanGorder. It’s was too complex for college kids. These kids have to play fast. Complex schemes in college give you paralysis by analysis because they are thinking too much and not just reacting.

Why would he be on MF's radar?

Belichek proteges are a lot of blah.

Only one guy who coached with Belicheck has really amounted to even thinking about. And saying that guy was good because of Belichek is a stretch to say they least.

Personally, I've had my fill of Belichek proteges.

So the hiring of Patricia at OSU will be a bust. That's the vibe I'm catching.

I don't think this Ryan hire is as much of a reach as this one..

Not sure. He knows X's and O's. But he seems a much bigger risk than OSU is used to taking.

He has a very deep and talented roster at his disposal, and all he has to do is simply not screw things up.

For that matter, tOSU will be more than happy to buy any transfer players that he wants.

Agreed. Talent will hide incompetency
