He is not better than Traore or Bothello or Young. Plus we also have very solid Tulialamaka and Burnham as well. The dissention that would come wouldn't be worth it, esp since he courted USC last yr already.
Spend the $$ for another WR or DB (need depth there).
This would be like ND offering big $$ to a good OL that entered the portal.
He will be needed in September and October, trust me.
Our lack of developed, veteran depth reared its ugly head in the NC game, especially along the defensive line. We were going against one of the best offensive lines in the nation, and the injury ravaged roster ran out of gas.
I don't see his jumping over Traore, Bothelo, or Young. He'd still get plenty of playing time, though, since rotating in fresh players is a must these days.
If he's willing to be a spot starter / depth man, instead of demanding to be a full time starter, then he'd fit in very well with us. I think he could generate some decent numbers.
I'd have to agree with BaronVonZemo, though, that the guy is looking to be a full time starter somewhere.
He was a situational player only……FOR STANFORD!!!
…..but I am sure that some will still think that we should throw $ at him which might go elsewhere to our own players or to adding to positions of actual need. Imagine throwing big money at a situational player when other complete and better players get less (because there are teams out there who will throw bags at this guy because they lack anyone as good).
The source of this information was Jaime Uyeyama on ISD.
We are loaded at DE. Sure, you can always add more, but then you risk losing multiples to the TP that you already have. And, as I said, the NIL money should be directed to positions of need (CB is thin). Further, the kid is felt to be almost a lock for USC unless someone buys him off.
