Freeman said it's basically impossible to have a three QB race in the summer/fall camp (he's correct).
The staff will be making some decisions (likely coinciding with the spring portal) in the next week.
I'll be stunned if the odd man out doesn't hit the portal has his reps will be falling off a cliff.
Payne will likely hit the portal as well, as Young and Williams have surpassed him and he simply won't receive any reps moving forward.
from a lot of big schools. Seems like the QB room is finally in a good place. Grubbs is coming in next year too.
He has 5 star talent.
He has a live arm and some twitch. That high school injury slowed up his development, and dropped him from a 5 star to a 3 star.
He could start for ND in the future.

surprised if he doesn't end up at Tennessee.
As others have said, the spring game is only a small portion of the dataset the coaches will use.
Watching Carr, the arm talent is elite. Quick release, velocity and accuracy. The two throws to the TEs were the best of the day of any QB. I think he will win the job.
Angeli is steady, would be a great backup as he has been. Prone to sacks.
Minchey has some physical tools with his legs the other 2 don't have. Has a strong arm but his accuracy is suspect.

Nothing close to Minchey, but he can dust Angeli.
He fits the current scheme the best between his arm talent and ability to move.
If I am in Coach Freeman's shoes, I would select Minchey and Carr for two reasons. (1) They are the high ceiling QBs, and (2) they both have multiple years of elgibility left. I would want to firmly establish ND as a option to future high ceiling QBs that ND can recruit and DEVELOP QB's with potential NFL talent. He has two of those on his roster right now: Minchey and Carr. As a ND football fan since 1953, I would like to see ND back on top and these days you need QBs with top level talent at the helm. This represents the best opportunity for Coach Freeman and staff to show that they can do it. The best example of that was how Coach Holtz developed Tony Rice - and ND won its last National Chamlionship!
