Kelly post so much as it is, how do 5* keep flocking to a coach with a historically terrible record coaching them up? He does wonders with 2*'s, but with 5's, you might as well quit. They spend way more time in the dog house.

He has a very good recruiting staff
Cortez Hankton is especially a big time recruiter. He has had great success pulling in a good bit of 5 star talent everywhere he has gone.
Brad Davis is also a big time recruiter.
Corey Raymond has always had great success pulling in 5 star defensive backs, too.
They offset Kelly's laziness when it comes to getting out there and putting on some elbow grease.
Those guys know how to bend the ears of the recruits, and are quite charismatic.
Keeping those guys on campus, though, is another thing entirely. Once they see that Brian Kelly has his favorites, they do tend to get disillusioned.
Plenty of LSU players enter the NFL each year
That’s the #1 goal of most of these guys.
