I could see him wanting to return, but are we a better team next year? I think we take a step back
in experience and talent (especially if KVA leaves - LB would be thin).

Not if he's a top 5 NFL Draft option.
There's lot's a crap QB play in the NFL, and teams are hungry for someone good.
Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Re: This may not be popular, but I absolutely feel he'll be back next year.
It's complicated.
This is shaping up to be a very deep QB draft class without a corresponding number of QB-needy teams. Meanwhile, NIL money and the option of another year in school substantially reduce the downside of staying.
If CJ is ranked among the top four QBs, he's gone. If he's sixth or lower, he has a compelling reason to stay—especially since, even if his stock falls next year, he'd still have another year to rebuild it.
The tricky decision comes if he's viewed as the fifth-best QB, just a step behind the top four. That's where the difference between late-first-round money and mid-second-round money makes declaring a much tougher call.

Anything short of a title and you might be right. Win the thing and he's probably gone.
Who knows at this point. Lot of football yet to be played.
