24 team playoff is a go next year.
Will Pete get ND a top 20 and you're in deal with the Disney cartel?
Invincibility with no vulnerability
Will Pete get ND a top 20 and you're in deal with the Disney cartel?
This is pure insanity.
My Seahawk's lost last night and are now 3-3. They can still right the ship and make the playoffs (doubtful), but my interest week to week is quite low as the games won't really matter until November/December.
The NFL only has a 14 team playoff, by the way. Who here is going to give a shit if ND is the 19th seed some year and have to play #13 seed Iowa St. on ESPN2 at 9pm on a Thursday night in December?
In the end this is about keeping the $$$ flowing between ESPN, the big conferences, and the donor class who will stop paying up for 8-4 Texas A&M seasons sooner rather than later.
Indiana?
Texas Tech?
Boise State?
Missouri?
Miami?
ND?
The SEC has NOT won the NC in the past 3 years?
Prior to NIL, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson controlled all the Stars.
5 Stars SAT on the bench and were not allowed to transfer.
Now, Parity, better play. Urban Meyer just said the SAME thing on the internet...
Trust me, there will be upsets...
2 years ago, Arizona Fricking State DAMN near beat Texas with their $70MM NIL budget...
SMU...the list goes on.
HERE COMES THE IRISH.
REMEMBER, the SEC was really dominant when PAYING PLAYERS WAS NOT LEGAL. SAY THAT 6 or 7 times...
But they want to have byes, which is stupid.
It’s a terrible burden always being right …and then having to watch the world proceed down the wrong path…
1. Eliminate the meaningless conference championship games
2. The playoffs start 2 weeks after the end of the regular season.
3. The first two rounds are home games for the higher seed.
See Alabama last year
With teams in same conferences or rematch situations.
If 4 or 5 teams make it from each conference u will get all sorts of rematch scenarios
It's just a way for blue bloods (ND included) to garner more rope to make the playoffs.
Pete is a TV executive, not an AD. He is weak.
Another step in destroying this sport...in my view.
(And I think it actually inures to the benefit of Notre Dame, at least in certain years,...given the proclivity of certain entities to try and cut them out.)
health. They'd have teams playing year round if they could and complain about escalating NIL every step of the way.
