#4 in the AP is generous; 8 in coaches seems right

And/or aren't voting based on conference affiliation like the coaches do.
Indiana shouldn't be above ND. They lost to a good team at home and we lost ot a good team away. TT hasn't really played anyone so, while I get they are undefeated, 5 seems high. Same goes for Utah who haven't played anyone either.
Granted this all works itself out but the Big 12 teams have schedules almost as bad as the ACC teams. They shouldn't be rewarded for weak OOC schedules.
And North Carolina showed it 2 weeks ago on our defense.
Behind us has a big win. Top 5 match up for 11/7. Hopefully ND has learned and will adjust but I’m not holding my breath on it.
The Coaches have one loss Georgia, Indiana and Ole Miss in front. Compare one loss of this three teams vs Notre Dame.
If you want to argue TTU should be in front of them, ok, but the other three … no chance.
Remember, Miami, the new #1 barely escaped a loss to FSU at home. There are no dominant teams this year.
