Enough Already - Let’s Move On

Yes, Saturday was a gut punch, but how about a reality check. Some of the comments are just silly; enough of the Armageddon BS.

FACTS:

CJ Carr is not the worse QB in college football. He’s one of the best.

The coaches are not clueless. Our head coach was the most coveted coach in football at the end of last season.

The team was not crushed. We lost at a very good team’s home by one score, and very well may have won if not for several officiating errors and despite not bringing our A-game.

Now it’s time for Navy and let’s run the table. Stop whining and move on.

GO IRISH!

Lost in the discussion - BYU gifted us two possessions with the fumbled punt and the silly fake punt attempt. Take those away and this game is very different.
They took their opening kickoff and marched down the field effortlessly. When we needed a stand with a 24-21 lead, they again marched down the field to score a TD. Against our D that is supposedly elite.
These things are very concerning. We have a lot to correct. Maybe this game serves as a necessary wake up call. But to chalk this up as just a close road loss to a good team masks some larger problems.

We gifted them an overthrow on the first drive and a fumble (should have been a penalty for mimicking the count) on the two yard line. We also lost our key Edge on their first drive.
In the meantime, we course corrected the defense at half time and had more total yards.
Not our best game, but it was still close despite the headwinds.

Well said. We didn’t look like rhe #2 team nor the #4 team. We looked downright inept at times.

Marcus our team responds very well and very maturely. That is the key, respond well. His 2024 team beat very good teams in the playoffs and finished number 2 to a team with much better depth. If we play with the same attitude we can beat anyone.

Agree. Some fans take it personally.

Let fans vent as long as they need to vent. We were sold a fairytale story for 2026.

That little tale started to wear against NC. There was no one that we needed to rise to the occasion against BYU that did just that. And that includes players and coaches. Fans can still vent and wonder what the hell happened has nothing to do with Navy prep and the mindset of this team. The concern here is losing big games and the coach speak in its aftermath is beginning to wear thin. Fan reaction has nothing to do with any of this. Reacting and venting is what fans do in every sport all over the world.

We all vented, but the “sky is falling” chicken little crap is a bit much

Some recent history … Notre Dame loses to NIU. Then what?
We run the table and pile drive each opponent until the end of the season. As for big games, how about:
Indiana —-> Georgia —-> Penn State
The funny thing is this, tell me what is worse:
  1. losing to a good team at their crib under questionable officiating
  2. Being lucky to beat a horrible FSU team in OT.
An objective person would look at these two games and say the latter is worse.
  GO IRISH!

OSU, Miami, A&M, BYU. You're right. This crap is a bit much.

These were the encores to IU., Georgia, PSU. You think I'm the only one saying this? Check out what the ND insiders are saying, media and social. I go back to Hugh Devore so I've made my bones to cheer, complain, question all I want.

      OSU was a better team.
Miami game was CJ’s first game and he rallied a come back only to lose by a walk off FG at their home. We would have beat them late in the season.
Texas A&M and BYU included significant referee assists.
      Quit whining.

Everyone was all in on "Leave no doubt". Watching Saturday night was a wee bit of a let down. We all went into the game anticipating a win and a #1 ranking and the nation's longest win streak. Fans be fans. Angry, upset, disappointed, and the "we'll get 'em next time" fans. Fans will be sitting on this loss for the next couple of weeks and the media will make sure we don't forget.

Agree but not if we play like Saturday night. We need the “leave no doubt” version of this team that beat up on five soft opponents to return.

It's a trend. They run a hybrid of Kelly and Tressel ball.

Though I agree with the rest of your sentiment. And ND needs to learn to bend the rules like other teams.
