There is a virtual absence of misdirection.
There is almost no wide running game.
There is very little short passing game across the middle.
All of this means is that a team, like BYU can run a Tampa 2, deep drop their LBs on every play except 1st down and ND has no plays that counter that or force the LBs and safeties to make decisions or cause confusion.
The fact that our substitution patterns are pathetically bad, i.e., our best RB got 5 carries: Williams whose best skill is pass receiving caught one pass in a game were the back seven were dropping deep on every pass play: in game in thin air, only the three starting receivers caught passes and had 95% of the playing time.
While not trying to pick on the two of the WRs, why are Gilbert and Greathouse -- who are virtual clones of each other, getting all the playing time? 6 games into the season and only three WRs get the bulk of the playing time?
The main limiting factor is the pedestrian offensive game plan when we have some highly recruited skill players that never see the field. Even though Denbrock is THE limiting factor on this team, Freeman won't do anything about it.
Given some of the rumors from after the MSU game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Denbrock gone at the end of the year.
Bowen should be 4th in line for LB snaps.
Our Tight ends look fat and slow.
more unhappy with poor tackling.
should only be in in running situations. He was meant for the Navy game.
But it comes down to matchups
The last pass in the BYU game was probably a TD with no PI.
And of course we were robbed of another play.
not as often as we do.
