The U of Miami President fired the first shot towards ending conferences.
Saying publicly he'd rather join the SEC or B10 was a little shocking.
Saying Miami will go independent if they have to (which will be required if the current iteration of the Protect College Sports Act passes), was more shocking, but makes the most sense.
When Pete was on the Hill not too long ago, he correctly stated that the "Super Conference," aka the have's, will form from a collection of independent programs like ND, not from the SEC and B10 merging.
If Miami (and FSU, UNC, Clemson) go independent after the act passes into law, I think we'll quickly see the likes of OSU, UM, Alabama, LSU, ect, ect jump from their conferences and the Super Conference will begin to form.
If you're wondering why any of this would or could possibly happen, the answer is simple: MONEY.
