Mike Norvell fired at Florida State...
Hard to figure out how a young guy like Norvell can lose the edge so completely at a program like Florida State.

Overestimated mercenary loyalty
Norvell made extensive use of the transfer portal to shore up the team. After the Willie Taggart fiasco, I don't blame his choice of doing so, since Taggart was a terrible recruiter.
In 2023, he put together a very nice season, until his main QB Jordan Travis got hurt just before the playoffs.
The playoff selection committee decided that an undefeated FSU team without Travis wasn't worthwhile, so they got left out in the cold, and the mercenaries decided to opt out of a "mere" NY6 bowl.
I will concede that just about every team that got jilted by the playoff committee would probably have felt similarly, but those whose rosters were more "home grown" instead of being massively mercenary, would have at least given a damn about the bowl game, especially a prestigious NY6 one.
I do believe that if Jordan Travis didn't get hurt, that Norvell would be riding a much better high than the dumps that he ended up in, that recruiting would have been better, and the team spirit would have also been better.
