The amount of talent and depth we have in the secondary during the Freeman era is better than any ND team in recent (40 years or so) history.
The only team that comes anywhere close to the talent and depth of the last two years, was probably Lou's 1992 squad. It was a similar story, where we had an amazingly talented freshman who was too good to not start (Bobby Taylor), and several NFL draft picks backing up the starters. We even moved John "Shaft" Covington (also a draft pick) to NB / OLB to make room for Taylor.
That being said, I don't see O'Brien bumping either Tae Johnson or Adon Shuler this year, but I'm guessing he'll be the #2 guy at either FS or SS by mid season.
He can relax and take his time with adjusting to the college game, and will be ready to go soon.
