So they can pay the big-mouthed idiots that drive their ratings.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
Invincibility with no vulnerability

I thought they gave her the boot in 2018 with an "amicable settlement" after her stupid racist remarks?

I was shocked how far he made it. He despised ND.

all you have to know is manifested by when they show an interview - they will often show the interviewer's name, but not the interviewee. that says everything you need to know.

I do enjoy the telecast when McDonogh / McElroy are in the booth. Same for Ness / Daniels.

Back in the day Ron Franklin /Mike Gottfried and Summerall / Madden was must see TV. Going back even further, Curt Gowdy, Ray Scott, Dick Enberg, and Chris Schenkel made these games more enjoyable to watch. So, IMHO, the booth was important to a more enjoyable TV viewer. I notice ESPN isn't ditching any of these non essential sorority sideline gals.

U have issues.

Most cable networks have the same problem. It’s not reporting, its opinion. And it’s driven by the audience.

Please don’t let facts get in the way of their narrativess. Sometimes all u need is a box score

It got much worse around the time that Lou had left ESPN.

I'm glad he left before it truly degenerated into a cesspool.

Do people that watch a game because of the announcers?

It is one thing to be good at what one is doing -- and there are plenty of announcers that are.

It is another thing to be stupid $$ to someone because of their "name", especially when that "name" doesn't drive viewership.

My big example is Monday Night Football when Aikman and Buck. Does anyone watch that game because they are the announcers -- i.e., do they drive viewership? Yet they make gobs of $$ even though they aren't notably any better than a variety of announcers.
