Watched the highlights of the 1973 National Championship over Alabama. Man were we charmed. A catch

on a pass to Casper on the last drive before the field goal, which Clements underthrew with two defenders all over Casper and the field goal by Bob Thomas that barely made it in the wider goals posts that existed at that time.

How the heck did Bob Thomas ever kick in the NFL? His range was about 38 yards and his accuracy was always suspect. Man it was different then.

Casper caught the ball in double coverage before the winning FG. Weber's catch was later.

That was a different play. Weber's catch along with 1 more 1st down allowed ND to run out the clock

A prelude to his penchant for looking the other way and ignoring the obvious.
