Wagner really got some bad advice, too bad he heeded it.

Nobody had him going earlier than 5th round, if drafted at all. Perplexing decision to leave early, on many fronts.

Saying someone got "bad advice" is just a weak opinion from the cheap seats

Sometimes guys just need to leave the college scene. I don't know anything about Wagner but I doubt he was going to advance much further in college. He started 28 games and played in 35. If his body of work and his skill set aren't advanced enough at that point, I doubt another year of college was going to make a difference.

He wasn't going to make the NFL as a starting tackle. Why bring up "another year

wouldn't have improved his draft stock"? Never said anything about staying improving his draft stock, which wasn't going to improve due his size limitations. The benefit to coming back was making large NIL (which was a given) and potentially winning a natty.

Not really that difficult a decision unless someone sold him on big NFL opportunities and the millions that come with it, which wasn't realistic, by ALL accounts. Speaking from the "cheap seats", of course.

If you're going to post something to try to insult someone, at least get your facts straight, just look like an idiot (as in this case) otherwise.

      Lacking size

The major knock on Wagner wasn't his technique or athleticism.

      Both aspects were decently graded.

The fact that he was playing at 290 lbs meant that he was considered too small to be a right tackle in the NFL. Those 250-260 lb defensive ends are now 270-290 lb monsters in the pros, and those 285 lb defensive tackles are now well over 300 lbs.

He was pretty much maxed out at 290 lbs, since his frame is very slim for a OL, and there wasn't any more room to put on more muscle mass. If anything, he was having a hard time staying at 290 lbs, since most of the time, he was playing at 280-ish.

I simply disagree with folks when they say he could have improved his stock by staying a year, since he wouldn't have been able to fix his "weak spot."

The only pro-style offense I can see his being a good fit would be something like a West Coast Offense, but nobody runs a classical West Coast Offense anymore, except maybe Jim Harbaugh, and to a much lesser extent, Andy Reid.
