History says, expect a battle tonight: Remember at Soldier Field

Last time, these guys were leading us in the 4th quarter, then gave up 31 points, including three non-offensive scores, in the closing minutes.

We have also had occasional issues with focus early in the season under MF.

We’re the better team, and I think we win it, but I don’t expect us to cover. Hope I’m wrong.

Back then Wisconsin was a lot better.

And ND was a lot worse.
Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
    Invincibility with no vulnerability

      Probably right.

I would agree. I have had too much experience playing elite competition to even think or expect a walkover...as one would expect if ND were playing Western Michigan. Too often, we see year after year, teams with elite talent simply fail to focus on execution and commit blunder after blunder against teams they can outperform every day. But so many fans ignore this fact and have illusionary expectations. Living in Missouri now...ya gotta show me.

Much of ND's performance tonight rests on the shoulders of the coaching staff and captains and their efforts to motivate everyone to perform without senseless blunders. I have tremendous confidence that they can do that, but this is not a math problem, it is a chaotic and violent football game.

My view is one of confidence in a Notre Dame win...but I want to see competence. Elite and superior weapons are useless if they are not maintained and functional when called upon. Learned that a long time ago...both in war and athletic competition.
