Pat Fitzgerald doesn't like ND much either
We weren't interested in him out of high school (he did make a recruiting trip that he cut short).
MSU kind of owned us in the late 90s/early 00s (like 10-4?) so we still owe some payback.

I'm grateful to MSU for giving Charlie Weis his first ND loss in 2005
Everyone was so high on him after we impressively beat Pitt in his first game and then beat Michigan in the second game. MSU gave us our first clue that we were still on the wrong path.

I must admit
Weis did provide us/me with the incredible comeback victory game at MSU in 2006. It is one of my all-time favs.
Traiking 17-0 after Q1 and 37-21 to start 4th. Torrential rain and against the wind, we scored three TDs in last 5:25 to win 40-37. Brady Quinn threw five TDs to the likes of Jeff Samardzija, Rheema McNight and John Carlson. (Also produced one of the all-time rants from Detroit sports radio's Mike "Choked on Applesauce" Valenti).
