Shallow thoughts..

1. Someone tell Denbrock to stop running the 2024-2025 offense. Prince and Love are gone, and ND has an alpha QB. The o-line and RB's will not be successful running shitty stretch plays.

2. Carr should have 30+ passes and 300+ yards every game. Forcing run plays that go nowhere puts the offense behind the chains far too often.

3. Carr needs to refine his checking. It's awesome he has mastered the offense, but he's making checks way too late. ND needs to play with more tempo and he needs to check earlier in the play clock.

4. The WR's are coming along. Gilbert can stretch the field. MSU was daring ND to throw and ND made them pay far too often. Greathouse was silent but wide open many times. The TE's need to be involved more as attention veers to the outside.

5. The defense is bad ass. The end. Outside of taking the second quarter off, they were in complete control.

6. A reduced amount of RB carries should be distributed heavier on James, with Williams and Walton secondary.

7. The kicker isn't perfect. That's disappointing.

8. NBC sucks. The production value is trash compared to other networks. They blew Fitzgerald all night. They are all in on the B10, and it shows on ND broadcasts.

9. ND faces 3 trash teams next (Purdue, UNC, Stanford). Correct the offense in that time and head to BYU to truly begin the season.

    Some even shallower thoughts....

    1) Our first four runs each yielded 0 yards. I don't have the answer, but this is a pattern at the start of our games and it concerns me.
    2) With all the money NBC spends on ND, you would think they would put a crew in there that is worth a shit. Some no name young Syracuse grad paired with Todd Blackledge? They are painful to listen to.
    3) Thrilled with the Micah Gilbert breakout. Equally thrilled to see Luke Talich shine as a starter.
    4) Obviously there was a big breakdown between Shuler and Talich on the long pass. Glad it happened last night so they can fix it.
    5) Our D-line is just nasty.
    6) I said many, many bad words when I saw that fucking TD celebration orchestrated by Williams. I hope he and all the others who participated have to run gassers until they puke this week. I trust that shit will never happen again.
    7) Not ND, but Trinidad Chambliss is the best college QB I have ever seen. I was wowed by him last year and last night he was otherwordly. How on earth did no one offer him out of high school?

Carr is interesting in that he's the anti-Bryce Underwood & almost never goes to the primary read.

Correct about Denbrock. Here's what's wrong with him:

We featured the run in 2024 and 2025, but we can't do that anymore. We don't have the horses; however, Denbrock continues to force it.
We should pass to set up the run now, not the opposite. Our main focus should be on passing. That's what Carr can do so well. The passing game needs to be more creative. We have to junk that horizontal passing emphasis and throw the ball more down the field, and for God's sake, use the middle of the field, too.

Denbrock has to start using the TEs again. He has abandoned them. Ian Premer is a star, if they would only let him shine. It's crazy not to use his receiving talents.

Let's hope that Marcus replaces Denbrock after this year. We desperately need an upgrade as our OC.

It was mentioned during the broadcast that CMF and Denbrock had a not-so-friendly

one on one after the Rice game. Hoping that will foreshadow Denbrock's exit at the end of the year and CMF bringing in a top OC.
