Back from the game. Thanks to the weather gods for going fairly easy on us. Some thoughts.

1. James, Jr. & Gilbert - impressive games for both; James could really develop into something special with work; you could see him becoming more patient & waiting for the hole to open as the game went on.
2. Denbrock?? Not sure if the gameplan was developmental (e.g., James and Gilbert), we came out flat, or Denbrock laid an egg yet again, but not an offense I would describe as dominant or even with a clear identity.
3. Carr had a decent game, and one of his best attributes is that he doesn't make bad or dumb throws; also got out of trouble with his legs a couple times despite not overwhelming speed.
4. Carr has an interesting quirk in that often he'll check down from his primary receiver, despite there being a decent pass available to the primary - the anti-Bryce Underwood.
5. First 3.5 quarters struck me as fairly conservative on D; 4 sacks could easily have been 8 if we were more aggressive.
6. Had really hoped to see KVA uncork it, but he had a relatively quiet game.
7. Speaking of D, I would say we're somewhat susceptible to the downfield pass, and it's not clear to me that the DBs always know their assignments. Need to clean that up.
8. Couple nice INTs though, and especially Talich who saved what would have been a teammate's roasting at CB.
9. Good energy from the student section all game.
10. Sparty fans are very tolerable especially compared to their annoying cousins from an hour south.
11. I had us scoring 27 due to weather, but honestly, we should have scored at least 40 if we were being the least bit aggressive - attribute in part to slow paced offense and running clock down to 3 seconds on every snap (but see above re: developmental).
12. We need to be in peak form not only for Miami (who similarly looked blase vs Wake), but also BYU, who can score points. I also wouldn't sleep on SMU.
