Of being a game manager? He has the tools to be so much more but our staff reduces him to the same role as all our QBs for the last 30 years.
Denbrock needs a guy that can run as a QB , not a pocket passer. Such an injustice to Carr
If Denbrock returns, he should hit the draft.
top 10-15 pick in the draft, it is probably worth staying in college football for another year—whether that is at ND or somewhere else with a big NIL budget.
If he finishes the current year "successfully," I doubt, after 2 full years of starting, there is little he stands to gain by staying in college. In fact, he has more to lose in re: injury. If he is a pick projected within the top 15 this year, I doubt he improves that by staying in college.
Current projections have him within the top 5 qbs. Chances are he isn't going to be taken before Moore or Manning (even though many scouts are not sold on him yet). After that it seems it is Carr, Mensah and Sayin in that order, although I believe Sayin won't be rising given OSU stellar talent tends to make him look better than he is and OSU isn't exactly QB U at this junction. The 2028 qb draft class looks weaker than the 2027 one but there are always going to be guys who emerge out of nowhere.
ND, also, stepped up their media narrative for Carr. (Generally, ND tends to defer promoting their players to focusing on team glory. I wish LOVE, TEO, others would have had as much attention from the ESPN, media types.)
I think Carr could get the same kind of hype next year and, even with lack luster numbers, could have a better draft outlook. So, he loves ND and who knows he might want to give it one more run. (Without him next year, our QB outlook seems to be taking a step back, at the very least, so the coaches might be pushing hard for him to stay.)
OC altogether, staying probably doesn't get him much. The NFL always is in desperate need of QBs, so he'll get drafted pretty high.
I sit here and think what Carr could do in the Weis offense...brings tears to my eyes how his talent is being wasted.

This is an exceptionally deep QB class, without an exceptionally deep slate of teams that desperately need quarterbacks.
If CJ is sitting around QB5 or QB6 in the draft rankings, he has a substantial opportunity to improve his draft position with another season, while NIL money makes returning nowhere near the financial sacrifice it once was.
Separately, if he becomes the surefire No. 1 pick but that means going to the QB graveyard that is Cleveland, the credible threat of returning to Notre Dame becomes a substantial bargaining chip. Modern eligibility rules plus NIL make "I'll just come back for another year" a much more legitimate threat than anything Eli Manning, Bo Jackson, or John Elway had available to them.
play more talented teams than we have played so far. What I do see is incredible accuracy, poise in the pocket, big arm, good understanding of our offense and excellent command and leadership in the huddle. Not quite ready for the pros yet, IMO, but getting closer nearly every game.
