Random thoughts:
1. Our Auzzie punter has butterfingers. First, he drops the punt snap, and, then, the extra point snap. Do we really want this guy to be our holder?
2. Once again, our win felt like a loss; however, Walton emerged as our clear cut RB1.
3. Walton is our gamebreaker at RB. Now, we need a similar WR, too. Ohio St. has Smith; Miami has Toney. We don't have anyone in that class, but Bubba Frazier is the best hope that we have. If only someone would tell Dumbrock.
4. It really helps when our kickoffs go deep into the end zone. 97 yard KO returns aren't cool.
5. Our special teams weren't so special today: the just mentioned KO return; the Auzzie's two blunders; and why do we keep running into the opposing punter?
6. On our first possession of the game, we had third and medium. Dumbrock called a pick play to Faison, but it failed; however, even if he caught it, he would have been stopped short of the first down. Why not have the receiver go beyond the first down line before he receives the pass. Is that so hard to understand? It must be, because it happens often.
7. We were winning 21-7, it was fourth down and goal, and Marcus went for it and failed. An easy FG would have given us a 17 point, 3 possession lead. Of course, UNC has a long drive, scores to make it a 21-14 game. So, we went from a possible 3 possession lead to a 1 possession lead in a flash.
Hold your powder, Marcus. Be smart!
8. We need a TE who can really catch in order to help in the red zone. Ian Premer is the answer. Even if he is used just for that, it would be worth it. Our TEs are mediocre receivers; Premer isn't.
9. Once again, winning ugly beats losing. Go Irish! ☘️
