These season opening tournaments are extremely valuable, I believe. The losses don't really matter and you get a great gauge on what you have for a team, what you need to develop. Why are we not in one of these?

Illinois, Indiana, ND and Depaul/Wisconsin, etc. -- there's really no excuse for not playing a few decent teams early on.

we lost to Alaska-Anchorage.
And I'll never forget the write-up in Sporting News when ND landed up there. The SN writer said we didn't pass the "airport test." You fail the "airport test" when your team doesn't look like a bunch of basketball players getting off the plane. I think we had three scholarship black players on that team.
I always enjoyed watching that tournament for some reason. Maybe it was the high school gym the played in or the fact tip-off was damn near midnight.
I believe the tournaments select the teams, not the other way around.
BTW -- good to see you over here. We're protesting Cranium and NOYB's cheating of the Who Ya Got. Dookie is being an ass clown about it, so we're draining the Hoopty board.
Please treat this place as your new Hoopty board.
It's going to be broadcast on the Big 10 Network. Sheesh!
